Preparing for your visit to a patient service center

What do I need to know before going to a patient service center to have a lab test performed?

  1. If your doctor does not collect your lab test specimen in his/her office, you may be asked to visit a CompuNet patient service center.

  2. Remember to bring your insurance ID card. We will ask to see your insurance ID card each time you visit a patient service center.

  3. If you are not covered by insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid, we accept checks, money orders, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, or Discover.

  4. You will register at the patient service center window and a phlebotomist will call you when it is your turn to have your specimen collected.

  5. Patients are taken in the order of their arrival. We may take longer with some patients due to the nature of their collection. When it is your turn, we promise to give you the same personal care as those before you.

  6. Once we’ve drawn your specimen, our phlebotomist will carefully label your specimen and send it to the laboratory for testing.

  7. You should follow up with your doctor to receive the results of your laboratory test.

  8. Most routine results are sent to the doctor within 24 hours of collection, however, some tests will take longer. Your doctor will inform you as to when to contact his/her office for results.

  9. Please note that the Patient Service Center staff is not authorized to give test results directly to patients.
